Overview The Ashthorpe 38-inch Beginner Acoustic Guitar is a well-crafted instrument designed specifically for those who are taking their first steps into the world of music. This guitar is ideal for students and teens, making it a perfect choice for young aspiring musicians. The guitar comes in a striking black color, providing a sleek look that young players will appreciate. With a price point of $62.99, this budget-friendly starter kit includes everything needed to begin the musical journey, including a gig bag, extra strings, a strap, picks, and access to online lessons.
Key Features One of the standout features of the Ashthorpe acoustic guitar is its design. It is a 38-inch right-handed guitar that boasts 18 smooth frets and six pre-installed steel strings. The neck is easy to hold, making it comfortable for beginners to play. The guitar is constructed from superior-grade tonewoods, particularly basswood, which is known for its versatility and warm tone. This choice of material ensures that the guitar produces an impressive sound that is both bright and full of projection, making it suitable for various playing styles.
In addition to the guitar itself, the starter kit is incredibly comprehensive. It includes a carrying bag for easy transport, three assorted picks, a shoulder strap for comfortable playing, and a digital tuner that simplifies the tuning process. Furthermore, Ashthorpe offers four months of free app-based lessons, available on both iOS and Android. This app features thousands of songs and step-by-step lessons tailored to all skill levels, making it an invaluable resource for beginners.
Who Is It For The Ashthorpe 38-inch Beginner Acoustic Guitar is primarily targeted at young learners, particularly children between the ages of 6 and 8. With its smaller size, it makes it easier for kids to handle and play. The guitar’s design and included accessories are specifically intended to support beginners, providing them with the tools they need to learn and thrive in their musical journey. Parents looking for a quality instrument for their children will find this guitar to be a reliable and attractive option, especially considering its reasonable price.
However, potential buyers should be aware that the guitar’s size might not be suitable for all young players. While many customers find it perfect for smaller kids, others have described it as tiny, which could be a drawback for older children or those with larger hands. Additionally, while the sound quality has received praise, there have been mixed reviews regarding tuning stability and durability, with some users reporting issues like broken strings or the bridge separating from the body over time.
Final Verdict In conclusion, the Ashthorpe 38-inch Beginner Acoustic Guitar is a solid choice for young beginners eager to learn how to play. Its thoughtful design, quality materials, and comprehensive starter kit make it an appealing option for novice musicians. While it is not without some concerns regarding durability and tuning, it offers great value for its price, making it a worthwhile investment for aspiring guitarists. Overall, this guitar is an excellent entry-level instrument that can inspire a love for music in young learners.

What buyers say
4.8 · 5 reviews“I got this as a gift for my little brother and he loves it. Remember, you do get what you pay for. This is not as good quality as a higher-end guitar, but it's not bad quality either. The ONLY complaint is that the strings it comes with are very cheap and don't sound good. We swapped them for D'Addario strings and it played so much better. It's made of wood, but I don't know if the neck was sanded down because the edge feels a bit rough. It's a good guitar for beginners, though, and a really good starting point. I would definitely recommend having some better strings ready for it, but other than that it's a great starting point!”
“For a beginner guitar, it has a beautiful sound. I appreciate the case that came with it. Great for kids. Giftable. Would buy again.”
“We just got this Guitar today. We opened the box and were very impressed with the appearance! This is a gift for our granddaughter and she loves purple. This guitar is the perfect color with a beautiful gloss finish. There are other colors a person can choose from. The guitar has wire strings which is what we were looking for. It comes with a strap, a cover, extra strings, pics, and tuner. It sounds great and arrived in perfect condition. We can't wait to give it to our granddaughter. This guitar was priced very reasonable, is very durable, and comes with materials that will help any beginner get started. I would suggest that you purchase a solid case to protect this beautiful guitar.”
“probably the cheapest guitar on amazon and it includes a whole kit. This was my first guitar and I’m reviewing it months later with more experience and knowledge. For the tuning; it stays in tune, but due to the “action” of the strings the higher tones sound more out of tune it seems. The action is pretty bad on the lower side of the guitar, but it’s expectable for the price. It’s a good guitar to see if it’s something you want to get into. It’s very light, small, and not thick at all. I’d say it’s playable. Paint is decent but nothing crazy, it doesn’t scratch bad or anything though.I attached a video to my review comparing it to a high end guitar.I definitely recommend for beginners! Biggest downside is the action it has.”
“Granddaughter loves this. It's great for a kid. Needed adjustments to actually be playable but not bad. $50 worth or less depends on strings and labor. Strings are not the best that come with it. Might go and get your own same with strap. It's cheap. Let the shop do it strings or pop one like I did 😂. Or maybe worse and it'll piss you off.”
